Children and Adolescents Do Better with Family Meals
- Family meals are the single strongest predictor of higher achievement scores and fewer behavioral problems.
- Family meals are more related to psychological and academic success than studying, church, sports, art or music.
- Adolescents who regularly eat family meals are less likely to use alcohol, abuse drugs, engage in early sexual behavior and are less likely to commit suicide.
- Children and adolescents who regularly eat family meals have better overall nutrient intake than children who do not regularly eat family meals.
- Family meals support children’s food acceptance and internal regulation with eating.
